The establishment of Balıkesir University Faculty of Law arose as a natural consequence of Turkey’s increasing demand for qualified jurists. The growing number of individuals pursuing higher education in recent years, the rising educational level of society, and the expanding scope of legal matters—particularly in social, economic, and administrative fields—have heightened the need for legal consultancy and solutions to complex disputes. Recognizing the significance of law as a body of rules regulating social life, and in line with the aim of educating competent jurists, the Faculty of Law was founded as part of a public policy serving the common good. In this regard, the Presidential Decree No. 3119 on the Establishment of Certain Faculties and Institutes was published in the Official Gazette on October 23, 2020, thereby establishing the Faculty of Law at Balıkesir University. The Faculty began admitting students in the 2021–2022 academic year, welcoming its first cohort within the quota of sixty (60) students. At Balıkesir University Faculty of Law, undergraduate students not only acquire a solid foundation in legal knowledge but also have the opportunity to specialize through elective courses, thus preparing to graduate as well-equipped and proficient legal professionals. |
