Balıkesir is one of
the pioneering cities where the spirit of the National Forces (Kuvayı
Milliye) was resolutely shaped during the most critical periods of the
Turkish nation's struggle for independence. This city is not only a geography
where historical events took place, but also a powerful memory where
fundamental values such as justice, freedom, and love of homeland guided social
consciousness. Balıkesir
University Faculty of Law places this deep-rooted heritage at the centre of
its institutional identity; it conducts its education, teaching, and
scientific activities with this sense of historical responsibility. Law is one of the
indispensable building blocks of a democratic social order. The principle of
the rule of law is the most important condition for guaranteeing the
fundamental rights and freedoms of individuals. This principle expresses a
management understanding where legal security, not arbitrariness, and the
just, not the powerful, are prioritized. Our faculty considers law not merely
as a system consisting of written norms, but as a whole of values that protect human dignity,
establish justice, and strengthen social peace. Based on the vision
of Balıkesir University, our goal is to train lawyers who are competent in
national and international law, capable of critical thinking,
solution-oriented, and possess a strong sense of ethical responsibility. In
this regard, the quality assurance principles determined by the Higher
Education Council and the strategic plan objectives of our University are
taken as a basis. Our fundamental priority is to ensure that our students are
not only proficient in legislation, but also capable of interpreting the law,
internalizing scientific thinking, embracing lifelong learning, and
protecting the principles of our Republic. Our Faculty conducts
its education and research activities with a holistic approach, thanks to its
strong and experienced academic staff. Our current and dynamic curriculum is
continuously developed to respond to the changing structure of law and
societal needs. Law clinics, seminars, workshops, and scientific events are
organized to strengthen the link between theoretical knowledge and practice.
These activities enable our students to develop their professional skills and
become closely acquainted with legal practice. Balıkesir's history
as a member of the National Resistance Movement is one of the fundamental
references shaping our Faculty's mission. With the sense of responsibility we
derive from this legacy, the principles of justice, equality, and the rule of
law are made an integral part of our educational activities. The protection
and strengthening of the rule of law is considered a guarantee of academic
freedom and scientific autonomy. Our faculty aims to
educate individuals with a high sense of social responsibility, who
prioritize public benefit and adhere to ethical values. This understanding is
carried out in accordance with the vision and mission documents of our
University, based on the principles of transparency, accountability, and
sustainability. Our graduates are expected to be individuals who uphold the
universal principles of law in the fields of judiciary, administration,
liberal professions, and academia. Balıkesir University
Faculty of Law is resolutely progressing towards becoming a faculty that is a
reference point at the regional and national levels with its high-quality
education approach. Creating a participatory and student-centred academic
environment that encourages scientific production is among our primary goals.
The education of individuals who believe in the transformative power of law
is the fundamental reason for our Faculty's existence. The educational
approach implemented in our Faculty is based on a student-centred approach
and aims to strengthen a participatory academic culture. Our students are
encouraged to actively participate in research activities, take part in
scientific projects, and represent our faculty in national and international
events. The academic advising system contributes to students' ability to plan
and consciously continue their educational processes. At the same time, the
aim is to cultivate well-rounded individuals by supporting social, cultural,
and sporting activities. Balıkesir University
Faculty of Law considers establishing strong ties with its region and
contributing to society as one of its fundamental responsibilities. Thanks to
collaborations developed with public institutions, civil society
organizations, and professional associations, application areas are created
where our students can transform their theoretical knowledge into social
benefit. This interaction ensures a concrete understanding of the
relationship between law and society. In line with this
understanding, our Faculty prioritizes producing graduates who are sensitive
to the new problems that law faces in a changing world and who are aware of
areas such as digitalization, human rights, and environmental law. Efforts to
continuously improve our educational activities, institutionalize a culture
of quality, and strengthen internationalization goals are being pursued with
determination. On this occasion, we
wish success to all our students, academic and administrative staff under the
academic umbrella of Balıkesir University Faculty of Law. I sincerely believe
that this shared journey, centred on the rule of law, justice, and ethical
values, will elevate our Faculty to a stronger position in the future. Within
this framework, our Faculty will continue to build the future with the
strength it derives from its past, and will uphold its responsibility to the
law and society under all circumstances. The achievements of our students,
the professional contributions of our graduates, and the quality of our
academic work will continue to be our greatest source of motivation in
achieving these goals. This shared vision will strengthen the sense of
institutional belonging, enhance the prestige of our Faculty, and solidify
the foundation for long-term academic development. In this direction, we will
continue to work resolutely and preserve our collective effort as a valuable
legacy. With this understanding, we will confidently continue on our path
