of Academic Progress Honored at BAUN: Recognition of Academics and Contributors
to the University
Balıkesir
University (BAUN) held the 2024–2025 Academic Year Honor, Academic Achievement,
and Academic Incentive Awards Ceremony at the Atatürk Congress and Culture
Center, Şehit Fethi Sekin Conference Hall.
The
ceremony was attended by Rector of Balıkesir University, Prof. Dr. Yücel
Oğurlu; Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Cevdet Avcıkurt, Prof. Dr. Murat Doğdubay, and
Prof. Dr. Fatih Satıl; members of the senate; Vice President of the Balıkesir University
Foundation, Ziyaettin Tan; Chairman of the Balıkesir Commodity Exchange, Mehmet
Çetin; Vice Chairman of the Board of the Balıkesir Organized Industrial Zone
Directorate, Hüseyin Bekki; President of the Balıkesir Branch of the Mothers’
Association, Zekiye Seferbey; BAUN Secretary General, Yemliha Yanar;
award-winning faculty members; and academic and administrative staff.
The
ceremony began with a moment of silence and the singing of the Turkish National
Anthem, followed by a musical performance prepared by the BAUN Music Ensemble,
consisting of students from the Necatibey Faculty of Education, Department of
Music, under the auspices of the Department of Health, Culture and Sports.
After the performance, Rector Prof. Dr. Yücel Oğurlu presented certificates of
appreciation to the members of the ensemble.
In his
opening address, Rector Prof. Dr. Yücel Oğurlu emphasized that, in addition to
physical improvements, the university administration has introduced numerous
academic and administrative regulations, initiatives, and innovations over the
past two years—many of which are already tangible, with others to be seen in
time. He underlined that Balıkesir University would continue to take steps to
increase its recognition and prestige within the academic world through
congresses and symposia. Rector Oğurlu also noted that the university has
recently achieved significant success in education, research, and institutional
development through innovative projects and pioneering initiatives, and
referred to several undertakings that marked “firsts” in the institution’s
history.
Stating
that the successful work of Balıkesir University’s academics and students is
being closely monitored and continuously supported, Rector Oğurlu congratulated
the award-winning academics and shared examples of the progress made over the
past year.
The
program continued with the presentation of plaques of honor by Rector Prof. Dr.
Yücel Oğurlu to Vice President of the Balıkesir University Foundation,
Ziyaettin Tan, Mehmet Çetin, and Zekiye Seferbey (“Zekiye Anne”) in recognition
of their support for the development of the university.
Following the presentation of plaques and awards to the faculty members who received Academic Awards in the 2024–2025 Academic Year, Rector Prof. Dr. Oğurlu also presented certificates to the top five academics in each faculty and the top three in vocational schools and higher schools within the scope of the Academic Incentive Awards. The ceremony concluded with a group photograph. In total, 7 academics received Academic Awards and 102 academics were presented with Academic Incentive Certificates.
