Moot Court Session at the Faculty of Law

As part of the “Legal Clinics II” course, third-year students of Balıkesir University Faculty of Law held a moot court session under the supervision of Dr. Yavuz Özkan and Research Assistant Öykü Çalışkan Erdemir. The moot courts, organized in groups of three students (two in the role of attorneys and one as judge), will continue throughout the semester on a weekly basis.

This practice aims to provide students with the opportunity to put both procedural and substantive law knowledge into practice. Based on case files and evidence prepared by faculty members, students act as claimant and defendant attorneys by drafting realistic petitions, while the judge evaluates expert reports, witness statements, and other materials before delivering a decision during the moot court hearing. This practical exercise, which was met with great enthusiasm by students, helps prepare them for their future professional careers. Within the scope of this course, courthouse visits are also planned in order to further familiarize students with the legal profession.
