Afforestation
efforts at Balıkesir University continued with the fourth collective
tree-planting program of 2023, held around the 15 July Martyrs’ Square in front
of the Rectorate. Organized by the Rectorate under the theme “In the 100th year
of our Republic, we are planting 2023 saplings”, the event was attended by Balıkesir
University Rector Prof. Dr. Yücel Oğurlu, the senior administration, senate
members, as well as academic and administrative staff.
The 2023
afforestation activities began in front of the annex building of the Faculty of
Engineering, followed by a tree-planting event at Havran Vocational School
under the theme “A Breath for the Future,” and another planting activity at the
Çağış Campus on the occasion of World Down Syndrome Awareness Day on March 21.
In its fourth phase, saplings were planted for the establishment of the
“Martyrs’ Memorial Forest.”
Balıkesir University’s afforestation projects, carried out with the principle of contributing “a breath for the future” and fostering a greener environment, will continue without interruption.
