According
to Article 41 (additional) of Law No. 2547 on Higher Education, passing the Law
Profession Entrance Exam (HMGS) or the Preliminary Administrative Judiciary
Exam (İYÖS) has been made a prerequisite for entering the judiciary as a
candidate judge or prosecutor, and for beginning attorney or notary
internships.
Those
who enrolled in higher education institutions after October 24, 2019, and those
who graduated after March 31, 2024, are required to pass the Law Profession
Entrance Exam (HMGS) or the Preliminary Administrative Judiciary Exam (İYÖS).
Candidates
for the HMGS will be responsible for 20 courses taught in law faculties.
According to the regulations, the exam is multiple-choice and consists of at
least 120 questions.
To pass,
candidates must score 70 out of 100 points. There is no standard deviation in
the exam scoring; therefore, each question is worth 0.83 points, and correctly
answering 84 out of 120 questions corresponds to the passing score of 70/100.
